L'inspiration

Marion Plaçais puise ses inspirations dans l’histoire et les techniques ancestrales textiles qui courent autour du monde. Depuis des siècles et au delà des frontières, ces savoirs se sont simultanément développés et diffusés sur les cinq continents. De l’ikat en passant par le shibori, le katazome, jusqu’au feutrage de laine, Marion Plaçais se réapproprie ces savoirs-faire, qu’elle croise à ses techniques de tissage personnelles.

L’artiste cultive une fascination pour les techniques textiles “chimiques”, telles que le feutre ou la teinture de par leur approche sensible. Ces phénomènes organiques et aléatoire viennent contrecarrer l’aspect mathématique et prévisible du tissage. L’Atelier Marion Plaçais propose des pièces conçues dans un souci d’équilibre entre textures organiques et lignes géométriques.

The artist is fascinated by natural "chemical" textile techniques, such as felting or dyeing because of their charming sensitiveness. These organic and random phenomena counteract the mathematical and predictable aspect of weaving and the Atelier Marion Plaçais offers pieces designed with a ideal balanced approach between organic textures and geometric lines.
